Hanuman kurangu (Common Langur) running across the meadow

Hanuman langurs are largely grey, with a black face, which is thought to relate to Hanuman, a monkey warrior from the Ramayana who burnt his hands and face trying to rescue Sita. They are the most widely distributed among monkeys in India and the largest monkey species in Kerala, adapted to forest habitats as well as plains, towns and villages. Males are up to seventy five centimeters long and females sixty five centimeters. Langurs from the southern part of their range are smaller than those from the north.
