Forest Conservation Measures. To conserve forests, the Government implemented several acts and rules in addition to the appointment of more staff. Travancore Forest Act was implemented in 1887. New forest rule was formed in 1958. The other major steps include the Kerala Forest Act of 1961 and Forest Conservation Rule of 1972. Foreseeing the dangers of deforestation, Government decided to reserve forest to maintain them as a public property for future.
